Job Overview
The Beverage Company is seeking an experienced X3 Driver to join its supply chain operation in Bellville.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery process from preparation through to completion, ensuring stock is delivered according to schedule while maintaining high standards of customer service, safety, food safety and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Up to 3 years’ experience in operational execution within the FMCG environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work according to defined procedures and policies
- Customer-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Operations
- Prepare for the following day’s deliveries.
- Follow all required vehicle start-up procedures.
- Conduct and sign off independent checks of truck stock.
- Follow the designated delivery routes and schedules.
- Deliver stock to customers according to planned schedules.
- Return to the depot within the required timeframe.
- Ensure all delivery documentation is signed, consolidated and returned correctly.
Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and consumers.
- Keep customers informed about the stock being delivered and the progress of offloading.
- Maintain communication with the Distribution Controller / Expeditor regarding deliveries, delays and operational issues.
- Address customer requirements professionally.
Safety and Vehicle Compliance
- Conduct a complete pre-trip inspection before every journey.
- Report all non-compliant items identified during inspections to management.
- Practise safe and fuel-efficient driving in accordance with company standards.
- Follow truck lock-out procedures during loading.
- Comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Comply with company Safety, Health and Environment requirements.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
Food Safety
- Comply with the company’s food safety policies, SOPs and prerequisite programmes.
- Follow PPE and personal hygiene requirements.
- Participate in required training and competency assessments.
- Follow hand-washing and sanitising procedures.
- Prevent product cross-contamination.
- Report food safety risks to the appropriate personnel.
- Report any illness or communicable disease before commencing a shift.
- Comply with applicable legal, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene.
- Remain alert to food defence and food fraud risks.
- Support the organisation’s food safety culture and product quality objectives.
Loading, Unloading and Stock Control
- Conduct independent checks of all loads to verify correct quantities.
- Accurately record returned stock.
- Maintain effective communication with the Warehouse Supervisor and team members.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and comprehensively.
- Ensure stock is loaded and unloaded safely and correctly.
Technology and Systems
- Use all company-approved technological solutions and systems as required.
- Comply with mobile technology operating requirements.
