Job Overview
The Beverage Company is looking for an experienced and reliable Driver to join its Supply Chain team at Longlake.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering stock to customers according to planned schedules, while maintaining high standards of customer service, safety, compliance and operational efficiency.
The role also involves shunting stock between the Manufacturing Plant and Distribution Centre (DC), as well as moving pallets between the Plant, DC and de-hire sites.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence
- Valid PrDP/PDP
- Up to 3 years’ operational experience in FMCG will be an advantage
- Good verbal communication skills
- Customer service experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Operations
- Prepare for the following day’s deliveries.
- Follow the required start-up procedures.
- Conduct independent checks of truck stock and ensure checks are completed and signed.
- Follow designated delivery routes and schedules.
- Deliver stock to customers accurately and within the required timeframes.
- Return to the depot within the specified timeframe.
- Ensure all delivery documentation is completed, signed, consolidated and returned.
- Accurately check, load and unload vehicles.
- Verify quantities before leaving the depot.
- Accurately record returned stock.
Customer Service
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and consumers.
- Keep customers informed about the stock being delivered and the progress of unloading.
- Maintain regular communication with the Distribution Controller or Expeditor.
- Communicate delays or delivery-related issues promptly.
- Build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
Safety, Health and Environment
- Comply with all company safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
- Follow all applicable legislation and traffic regulations.
- Complete a Pre-Trip Inspection before every trip.
- Report any non-compliant items identified during inspections to management.
- Practise Green Band driving at all times.
- Follow the Truck Lock Out Procedure during every loading sequence.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, safe and presentable.
- Comply with all PPE and workplace safety requirements.
Food Safety and Quality
- Comply with the company’s Food Safety policies and procedures.
- Follow food safety, hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Prevent cross-contamination and protect product quality.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and housekeeping.
- Report food safety risks, illness or other relevant concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Participate in required training and competency assessments.
- Remain alert to food defence and food fraud risks.
- Support the organisation’s food safety culture and GFSI certification requirements.
- Maintain a zero-compromise approach to product quality and safety.
Technology and Administration
- Make full use of the company’s technology and mobile-based systems.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Code 14 professional driver with a valid PrDP/PDP, strong customer service skills and an understanding of FMCG delivery operations.
The successful candidate must be safety-conscious, reliable and able to manage the full delivery process, from vehicle and load checks through to customer delivery and completion of documentation.
