Position Overview

Are you a skilled Diesel Mechanic looking to join a dynamic team in the transport and logistics industry? IQHAUE is seeking a qualified Artisan Diesel Mechanic to maintain and service a fleet of buses and related auxiliary equipment at our George location.

Key Responsibilities

As an Artisan Diesel Mechanic, your primary duties will include:

1. Vehicle Maintenance and Servicing:
   • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of buses according to established checklists.
   • Ensure that all vehicles meet company standards and legal roadworthiness requirements.
2. Breakdown Assistance and Repairs:
   • Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns, diagnosing issues and performing necessary repairs on-site.
   • Report findings and actions taken to the manager for record-keeping and follow-up.
3. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
   • Adhere to health and safety regulations while conducting repairs or servicing vehicles.
   • Implement appropriate safety measures during all tasks, including at breakdowns or accident scenes.
4. Fleet Oversight:
   • Maintain accurate records of all services and repairs completed.
   • Ensure that buses comply with legal and company policies at all times.
5. Administrative Tasks:
   • Perform general administrative duties related to vehicle maintenance and compliance reporting.

Minimum Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education:
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Certificate.
• Qualifications:
  • Qualified Artisan with a completed Trade Test in Diesel Mechanics.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the transport or logistics industry, specifically in servicing buses.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of bus maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues during breakdowns.
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transport.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workshop or on-site environment.
