Introduction

Unitrans, a leader in personnel transport services, is currently seeking experienced and professional Bus Drivers for temporary contract positions at our Worcester facility in the Western Cape, South Africa. Key Responsibilities

As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for:

  1. Passenger Transport: Safely transporting passengers on scheduled routes, ensuring on-time arrival.
  2. Vehicle Operation: Operating the bus with strict adherence to traffic laws, including observing prescribed speeds and road signals.
  3. Passenger Safety: Ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers by controlling the bus’s lighting, heating, and ventilation.
  4. Compliance: Following all Unitrans policies and procedures, including the code of conduct, SMS policy, and HST regulations.
  5. Incident Reporting: Promptly reporting any near misses, incidents, or property damage to management, even if you were not directly involved.
  6. Vehicle Inspection: Conducting pre-trip inspections, recording any deviations or defects, and reporting these to your supervisor.
  7. Log Management: Maintaining accurate log books and activity records, including recording hours and vehicle use.
  8. Customer Relations: Maintaining a positive and professional attitude towards passengers and ensuring that all customer interactions are handled with respect and care.
  9. Safety Practices: Adhering to safety practices, including the use of seat belts, proper vehicle handling, and following procedures for starting and parking the vehicle.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Education: Minimum Grade 12 or National Certificate.
  2. Licensing:
    • Valid Public Services Driving License (PG).
    • Appropriate driver’s license categories: CE – G, CE – PG, and C – G.
    • Valid RAC2 card.
  3. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong emphasis on defensive and preventive driving techniques.
  4. Training: Completion of job-specific training and a thorough understanding of the driver’s manual and Unitrans Passenger rules and regulations.
  5. Communication Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication, particularly in English.
