About the Role

Lactalis SA is seeking a skilled Driver Code 14 to join the Tankers department at our Bonnievale Plant. This position is integral to ensuring the efficient and safe transport of milk from farms and plants while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

1. Milk Transportation:
   • Load milk at farms and plants, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
   • Safely couple and uncouple hoses to pump milk into tankers.
   • Evaluate milk for quality by conducting alliserol tests and inspecting for foreign objects.
   • Stir milk properly, take accurate samples, and record temperature readings for each tank.

1. Vehicle Management:
   • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
   • Maintain the cleanliness and housekeeping of the vehicle and associated equipment.
   • Ensure trailers are hooked and unhooked securely at designated safe spots.

1. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Complete all required documentation, including load sheets, instructions, receipts, and sample reports.
   • Report any deviations or irregularities to the supervisor promptly.
2. Safety and Compliance:
   • Drive professionally, adhering to all road traffic regulations and company policies.
   • Promote food safety, NOSA standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
   • Work safely at heights when required and comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
3. Team Collaboration:
   • Support continuous improvement initiatives and ad hoc tasks as assigned.
   • Communicate effectively with the team and ensure smooth operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
• License: Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a valid PrDP.
• Experience:
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a tanker driver.
  • Previous experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment is essential.
• Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Diligence, attention to detail, and accuracy in daily functions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to:
  • Work shifts, long hours, weekends, public holidays, and overtime.
  • Perform long-distance routes.
  • Take on ad hoc tasks when necessary.
• Physically fit to meet Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
