Purpose of the Job
As an Artisan Diesel Mechanic at Sasol, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal operation of automotive machines by verifying conformance to specifications and quality standards. Your work will directly contribute to meeting production targets and maintaining the safety and sustainability of our plants.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Demonstrating proven competence in plant/mine-specific disciplines and systems.
- Understanding and using the plant maintenance documentation system.
- Applying emergency procedures and participating in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments.
- Conducting hazard identification and risk assessments to improve safety.
- Participating in root cause analyses and providing feedback to RCA teams.
- Leading by example and mentoring junior artisans in a known environment.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and adhering to waste disposal procedures.
- Conducting physical inspections (My IMS) to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
- Providing feedback to supervisors and participating in quarterly performance appraisals for personal development.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Education: Grade 12/N3 with English, Maths, and Physical Science.
- Certification: NQF level 4 Diesel Mechanic Trade Test, Flameproof Certificate, and Gas Testing Certificate.
- Experience: 0 – 5+ years of relevant experience in diesel mechanics.
