Job Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently using ultra-heavy motor vehicles. The role includes vehicle preparation, loading and offloading, documentation, safety compliance, and ensuring deliveries are completed according to company standards and road transport regulations.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 10 or equivalent literacy level (verbal and numerical).
- Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP-DGP).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy motor vehicles.
- Experience operating dry bulk tankers.
- Must be 25 years or older.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Knowledge of:
- Defensive driving techniques.
- Vehicle inspections and maintenance.
- Vehicle components and emergency reporting procedures.
- Vehicle loading techniques.
- Fire extinguisher operation.
- Maximising vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
The successful driver will be expected to:
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and prepare vehicles for transport.
- Safely transport and offload goods to various customer locations.
- Complete all transport and delivery documentation accurately.
- Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and loads are properly secured.
- Operate offloading equipment where required.
- Open and close tarpaulins when necessary.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, housekeeping, and PPE standards.
- Follow all company SOPs, safety procedures, and National Road Traffic Act requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service during collections and deliveries.
- Report defects, breakdowns, and incidents promptly.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

- Undergo a medical evaluation.
- Complete company induction and training programmes.
- Successfully pass a practical driving assessment.
- Undergo criminal record verification.
