Professional Bus Driver Job Opportunity in Secunda

Unitrans is currently recruiting experienced and professional Bus Drivers to join its Mega Bus operation in Secunda, Mpumalanga. This permanent position is ideal for candidates with extensive passenger transport experience and a strong commitment to road safety, customer service, and compliance with transport regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently along scheduled routes while ensuring adherence to company policies and road traffic legislation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant job-specific training.
• Valid driver’s licence with the following categories:
  • CE – G
  • CE – PG
  • C – G
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar bus driving position.
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Safely transporting passengers on scheduled routes.
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Reporting vehicle defects, incidents, accidents, and near misses.

• Ensuring buses are clean, fuelled, and roadworthy at all times.
• Maintaining accurate logbooks and trip records.
• Registering passengers and ensuring passenger safety throughout the journey.
• Following approved routes and schedules without unauthorised deviations.
• Adhering to all road traffic laws and customer safety policies.
• Participating in safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.
• Providing professional and courteous service to passengers.
• Reporting any vehicle damage or operational issues to management immediately.
• Ensuring proper use of safety equipment, including seat belts and wheel chocks.
• Complying with all company procedures, regulations, and codes of conduct.
