Role Overview

Lactalis SA is seeking an experienced Driver Code 10 to join the F/Goods Cheese department at our Bonnievale Plant.

The primary focus of this role is to handle the collection and transportation of materials for the plant. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP, have experience in a manufacturing environment, and be capable of managing long-distance routes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Handling and Transport:
   • Collect packaging and raw materials from suppliers daily.
   • Ensure proper preservation and safe transit of stock to the plant.
   • Handle return stock deliveries and associated documentation accurately.

1. Vehicle Operations:
   • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
   • Monitor receipts, load sheets, and instructions, maintaining accurate records.
   • Adhere to all road safety protocols and legislation, driving with due caution and care.
   • Report any vehicle defects or operational deviations promptly to the supervisor.

1. Warehouse Assistance:
   • Assist in offloading, stacking, and picking of goods in the store.
   • Support stock preservation and ensure proper handling of materials.
2. General Maintenance:
   • Maintain the cleanliness and housekeeping of the vehicle and equipment.
   • Follow company protocols for vehicle handling and stock delivery.

1. Customer Relations:
   • Build and maintain a positive image for the company during interactions with suppliers and stakeholders.
   • Provide professional and courteous service at all times.
2. Other Duties:
   • Perform ad hoc tasks as required to support operations.
   • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Licenses:
  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP.
  • Forklift license (compulsory).
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Code 10 driver in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of pre-trip vehicle inspections and safe driving practices.
• Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to analyse problems and handle situations proactively.
  • Proven accuracy in managing documentation, slips, and receipts.
• Other Requirements:
  • Medically fit as per road traffic regulations.
  • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, public holidays, and overtime.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Capable of performing long-distance routes effectively.
