About the Position
Unitrans is looking for a qualified and experienced Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver (Rigid) to join its Consumer Division at the RCL Milling contract in Pretoria West. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and company operational procedures.
This role is ideal for a professional driver with experience operating heavy-duty rigid vehicles and a commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Valid Code 10 driver’s licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- PrDP “D” if required to transport dangerous goods.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar heavy vehicle driving position.
- Own reliable transport to and from work.
- Medically fit.
- Clear criminal record.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing vehicles before each trip.
- Loading and offloading goods safely and efficiently.
- Operating heavy-duty rigid vehicles in accordance with company policies and road traffic regulations.
- Conducting vehicle inspections before and after every trip.
- Managing delivery documentation from dispatch through to customer delivery and return to the distribution centre.
- Ensuring all transported goods are accurately accounted for.
- Taking full responsibility for the roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle before leaving the depot.
- Working shifts, weekends, and public holidays when operationally required.
- Carrying out additional duties as instructed by the supervisor.
- Maintaining a safe driving record and complying with all safety procedures.
