Job Overview

MSC is seeking an experienced Code EC Truck Driver to join its East London operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of containerised cargo between ports, depots, and customer premises while ensuring full compliance with road traffic legislation, RTMS standards, and company safety procedures.

This role is ideal for a professional heavy vehicle driver with extensive experience in container transport and a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate truck and trailer combinations in accordance with company procedures and road traffic legislation.
• Collect and deliver full and empty containers between ports, depots, and customer sites.
• Complete deliveries and collections according to approved schedules, routes, and journey management plans.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections in line with RTMS requirements.
• Report vehicle defects, damages, or safety concerns immediately.
• Ensure the truck and trailer remain roadworthy, clean, and properly maintained.
• Verify that all loads comply with legal weight limits and load-securing regulations.
• Maintain accurate trip sheets, logbooks, weighbridge slips, proof of delivery (PODs), and related transport documentation.
• Comply with driving hours, rest periods, and fatigue management requirements.
• Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all SHEQ and SQAS safety procedures.
• Report incidents, accidents, near misses, vehicle defects, and cargo irregularities promptly.
• Participate in safety training, toolbox talks, inspections, audits, and Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programmes.
• Carry out any other lawful duties assigned by management in accordance with company policies and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Minimum of 5 years’ heavy-duty truck driving experience.
• Previous experience transporting containerised cargo.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Medically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions.
• Knowledge of road traffic legislation and transport safety standards.
