TRUCK DRIVER LEARNERSHIP – REQUIREMENTS

• School Certificate (Grade 10, 11 or 12)
• Fluent in English
• Medically fit
• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence with PrDP
• Clean criminal record
• Age between 25 – 35 years
• Proof of bank account
• Proof of residential address
• SARS registration

My take on this

For young Code 14 drivers, this is a solid entry point into structured trucking work. Learnerships like these matter in South Africa because many drivers struggle to break in without formal backing, even when they have licences. The age cap is strict, though, and unfortunately excludes many capable drivers who only managed to qualify later in life — a real industry problem.
