Curro is currently recruiting for a full-time Bus Driver at Curro Riverside in Fourways, Gauteng. This position is expected to commence in August 2026 and is ideal for experienced drivers who enjoy working with learners in a school environment.

About the Role

Curro is looking for a reliable and responsible Bus Driver to safely transport learners and staff while also assisting with general maintenance and facility support. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring learner safety, maintaining school facilities, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the campus.

Key Responsibilities

Learner Transportation

  • Safely transport learners along designated school routes according to scheduled times.
  • Pick up and drop off learners at approved bus stops.
  • Transport learners and teachers on educational trips and school outings.
  • Maintain order and discipline on the school bus in line with school policies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transport.

General Maintenance and Facility Support

  • Respond to maintenance requests across the school.
  • Conduct daily inspections of school facilities.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing and repairs.
  • Report major maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist with general upkeep of school buildings and infrastructure.
  • Support security, access control and traffic management around the campus.

Garden Maintenance

  • Perform routine garden maintenance duties.
  • Cut grass and maintain flower beds.
  • Keep school gardens neat and well-maintained.
  • Monitor gardening supplies and report shortages.
  • Maintain gardening tools and equipment.

Health and Safety

  • Conduct daily vehicle safety and operational inspections.
  • Report mechanical defects and maintenance requirements.
  • Check fuel, oil, tyres and battery levels.
  • Keep the bus clean and roadworthy.
  • Participate in safety meetings, first aid training and emergency drills.
  • Ensure compliance with all road safety and transport regulations.

Record Keeping

  • Complete mileage records.
  • Maintain passenger counts and transport reports.
  • Submit any required operational documentation accurately and on time.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Valid EC1 or C1 driver’s licence (Heavy Motor Vehicle up to 16 000 kg).
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to perform general maintenance and general worker duties.
  • Previous experience driving a school bus or similar vehicle will be advantageous.
  • Clear criminal record.
