Truck Operator Vacancy in Cape Town

A leading logistics and freight company is seeking an experienced Truck Operator to join its operations team in Cape Town. This position is ideal for a professional Code 14 driver with experience in goods transportation, logistics operations, and customer service.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and road safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Valid Code EC (Code 14) Driver’s Licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience as a Code 14 Truck Driver.
• Good physical health and fitness.
• Sober habits with no history of excessive alcohol abuse.
• Strong understanding of logistics and transport operations.
• Good customer service and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Transport and Delivery Operations

• Load, transport, and deliver goods safely and on schedule.
• Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules.
• Ensure cargo is secured correctly before transportation.
• Verify delivery instructions before departing for delivery locations.
• Review orders before and after delivery to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a safe driving record and comply with all traffic regulations.

Documentation and Compliance

• Prepare and maintain delivery reports and related documentation.
• Verify STB POD slips against customer information.
• Check weighbridge slips and delivery documentation for accuracy.
• Review electronic Proof of Delivery (POD) information received through the D Track App.
• Obtain verbal confirmation from dispatch personnel before deliveries.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted correctly.

Customer Service

• Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
• Answer customer queries and address concerns professionally.
• Assist with loading and unloading when required.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers during deliveries.

Operational Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and operating equipment before and after trips.
• Monitor vehicle condition and report any defects immediately.
• Take and submit delivery location photographs as required.
• Ensure cargo seals are broken by the client and not by the driver in accordance with company procedures.
• Present POD and STB documentation to customers before discharge activities commence.
