About the Position

Protea Chemicals, a division of Omnia, is seeking an experienced Chlorine Driver to join its operations team in Killarney Gardens. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of chlorine drums, cylinders, and related products while ensuring compliance with safety procedures, transport regulations, and company standards.

This role requires a safety-conscious professional who can operate in a chemical handling environment and assist with warehouse operations when not performing driving duties.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12).
• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s licence.
• Valid Forklift Licence.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a professional driver.
• Experience working in a chemical or hazardous goods environment will be advantageous.
• Hazchem training will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

Transport and Delivery

• Safely load, transport, and offload chlorine drums, cylinders, and other products.
• Ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) at company and customer sites.
• Report delivery challenges and assist in resolving customer-related issues.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and documentation.
• Work closely with the driver’s assistant to ensure efficient route management and safe deliveries.

Customer Service

• Provide professional and courteous service to customers.
• Communicate effectively with clients during deliveries.
• Address customer concerns and gather feedback when required.
• Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance

• Keep vehicles clean, organised, and operationally ready.
• Assist with loading and unloading activities using approved lifting equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures relating to chlorine handling and transport.

Warehouse Support

When not assigned to driving duties, the successful candidate will assist with:

• Packing and stacking products, bags, drums, and cylinders.
• Stock movement and inventory management.
• Operating warehouse scanners and systems.
• Recording stock transactions using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Conducting stock counts and cycle counts.
• Assisting with forklift operations.
• Maintaining stock integrity according to ISO standards.
• Ensuring safe storage and handling of chemical products.
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping and safety standards.
