Unitrans is looking for experienced and professional Bus Drivers to join its Passenger Transport Division under the Mega Bus Johannesburg contract. The successful candidates will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently on scheduled routes while ensuring full compliance with company policies, road traffic regulations, and passenger transport standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers on scheduled routes and services.
• Ensure passengers reach their destinations safely and on time.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report defects, incidents, near misses, and accidents immediately.
• Complete vehicle checklists, trip sheets, and logbooks accurately.
• Register passengers and maintain required transport records.
• Ensure buses remain clean, roadworthy, and properly refuelled.
• Follow approved routes, schedules, and authorised stopping points.
• Adhere to all road traffic laws, safety procedures, and customer requirements.
• Participate in driver training, safety meetings, and operational briefings.
• Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance concerns.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
• Ensure the proper use of seatbelts and other safety equipment where applicable.
• Protect company assets and maintain a high standard of vehicle care.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence with applicable passenger transport categories.
• Valid Public Driving Permit (PG).
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Bus Driver or in a similar passenger transport role.
• Strong defensive driving skills and passenger transport experience.
• Clean driving record.
• Good understanding of road safety legislation and passenger transport regulations.
